The Fuel System

The Fuel System ensures the flow of fuel from the fuel tank down to the combustion cylinder; it also entails metering of the fuel for designed combustion process to take place. The fuel is pumped from the FUEL TANK by the FUEL PUMP through PRESSURE HOSES and FUEL FILTERS down to either the FUEL INJECTOR or CARBURETTOR into the combustion cylinder. Different vehicles has different deigns of the fuel system but same aim.

Fuel System

The fuel system is one of the most important system in the vehicle as without it the vehicle cannot work. It is so important that a minute fault in the fuel system could hinder the vehicle from starting. Also even if the vehicle starts it performance would be very poor until such Faults in the fuel system has been fixed.

The fuel system had various components associated with it and a lot of sub components. All these makes it complex and its diagnostics and repairs very critical. But with the adequate knowledge and skills diagnosing and fixing Automotive faults associated with the fuel system has become easier.

How does the fuel system works.

The fuel tank is designed in a way that it helps build pressure for the fuel, also the fuel pump helps to increase the fuel pressure. For some vehicles just inside or next after the fuel pump is a fuel filter. Fuel filter can be placed in multiple areas of the fuel flow system. The fuel pump is turned on when the Ignition is turn on by the car key. It is controlled electrically in modern vehicles. The flow lines are high pressure hoses which allow fuel through them. Fuel filers can be place in between flow lines.

Fuel System

The fuel comes into the injector or carburetor which aids metering and then supplies to the combustion cylinder for combustion.

If any of the components in the fuel system such as fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel flow lines, injector, carburetor etc. is faulty or damaged it could lead to serious problem for the vehicle. This may lead to misfiring, engine stoppage, vehicle engine not starting etc.

when the fuel pump is faulty it will lead to low fuel pressure will may cause misfiring or may not even pump fuel at all which would lead to difficulty in running the engine or starting the engine. The same symptoms occur for blocked fuel flow lines, dirty and block fuel filters and even dirty and block injectors and carburetors.

Fuel System

The carburetor or injector may also develop faults on their own, maybe worn out seal, nozzles not working properly, metering failure etc. For quality and affordable Automotive tools to perform repairs and Diagnostics in Automotive fuel system Click here.
