Car lightings

Lightings are very important system in the vehicle; there are numerous kinds of lightings in the vehicle they range from headlight, taillight, parking light, brake light, door light etc. these light are usually connected to relays and fuses then to power source depending on the type of the light.

Automotive lightings

Lights connections are usually connected from bulb to relay, relay to fuse, fuse to voltage source and the circuit is completed. Similar lights can be connected in parallel in the same circuit this is to ensure easier connections and circuits.

Lights may have control module that regulates it operations especially for lights that have specified features such as brake light, parking light, alarms etc. these light modules are usually computerized and programmed to work with various sensors and actuators in the vehicles.

For example; brake lights and parking lights are turned on or activated when the brake pedal is being engaged, this process is being controlled by the control module with signals received from the brake sensors. Also when the body is the vehicle body is hit by excessive force it may cause the security alarm to ring and the lights also blink, this action is also being controlled by the control module.

Dashboard

The dashboard is a vital part of the vehicle that displays various warning lights, gauges and indicators. The dashboard is usually the information hub of the vehicle as it displays the information about the state of the vehicle. Some of the gauges and indicators on the dashboard include:
Odometer.
Speedometer.
Fuel gauge.
Coolant gauge.
Warning lights.

Motor Electronics

Motor electronics deals with the various electrical and electronics systems and circuits that control the performance of the powertrain such as engine and transmission. Most of the operations of the engine and transmissions are controlled by electrical and electronics devices especially in modern vehicles, they usually have sensors and actuators embedded in them which are usually controlled by the ECU.

Automotive Electrical Diagnostics

The various sensors and actuators embedded in this system are usually connected with cables or wire to the various unit such as the ECU which controls them. The testing of the sensors usually differs with different design and application but the following test are usually performed on it which includes; Voltage test, Amperage test and Resistance test.

The wiring of motor electronics are usually very complex and they are packed in wire harness, they usually are joined together using connectors, these connecters usually comes with clips that are used to fixed them together.

Exhaust System

The exhaust system is responsible for removing exhaust gas (i.e. already combusted gas) from the engine. When this gas is not properly remove for the system it may lead to damaging of the engine, although this is not common but failure of other components in the system can cause serious faults to the vehicle. The exhaust system consist of the exhaust manifold, muffler, exhaust piper, silencer, detoxifier etc.

The Oxygen sensor which calculates the combustion process, that is the air to fuel ratio is located at the exhaust system, if the exhaust system or the sensor is faulty it can lead to limp mode. When there is fault in the exhaust system it leads to excessive noise and also vibrations. If the oxygen sensor is faulty it leads to high consumption of fuel.

Limp Mode is a state where by the vehicle is stuck at a certain gear in order to maintain low speed, this is activated by the ECU when a vital component or system is faulty in the vehicle such as braking system so as to reduce the risk of having fatal accident. These ensure the vehicle does not accelerate over a certain gear which is of low speed. And it’ll stay in that gear until the problem is fixed.
